What decides your figure

VA Disability

Your monthly figure comes from a combined rating percentage, not from a single condition.

Each condition is rated, then combined under the VA formula

Dependent spouse, children and parents add to the monthly amount

A 100% rating, or total disability at a lower rating, pays the maximum

SSDI

SSDI is paid from your own work record, so the amount is personal to your earnings history.

Based on lifetime covered earnings, not on the severity of your condition

Work credits decide whether you are insured at all

Family members may draw an additional benefit on your record

SSI

SSI is needs-based support for people with little income or few resources.

Starts at the federal benefit rate and is reduced by countable income

Resource limits apply to what you own, with exclusions

Some states add a supplement on top of the federal amount
